The Fall 2022 semester has not yet started, but the Samuel DuBois Cook Center on Social Equity is already buzzing with activity. By week’s end the 14th (!) cohort of fellows in the Diversity Initiative for Tenure in Economics will be meeting on Duke’s campus, discussing their latest research and receiving critical input from their mentors as they advance in their paths to achieving tenure-track positions. Additionally, the Cook Center’s Social Mobility Working Group is convening to discuss the next steps in its ongoing National Asset Scorecard for Communities of Color (NASCC) project to understand the manifestations of racial wealth inequality across geographic and ethnic lines, which has already explored these issues in such regions as Baltimore, Boston, Los Angeles, Miami, Tulsa, and Washington D.C.
Indeed, this semester—and this year—should be a busy one for the Cook Center. And as such, we’ve revamped this newsletter, in both form and frequency, to make sure you stay up-to-date on all the exciting things happening in our ecosystem. Keep an eye out for this newsletter in your inbox each month, and in the meantime be sure to follow us on our various social media platforms (now including LinkedIn!) to stay in the loop.
