Professor Jesse Mora is a first-generation economics professor whose research interests include international trade, development economics, and applied microeconomics. He was raised in Mexico and moved to the United States at the age of nine. Professor Mora spent over two years in Mozambique as a Peace Corps volunteer before earning a Master’s degree from Johns Hopkins University and then working in Washington DC for several years. He went on to earn a PhD in Economics from UC Santa Cruz. At Occidental College, Professor Mora is known for his innovative teaching style and expertise in international economics. His current research focuses on supply chain issues and the impact of trade costs on the poorest nations.
