Aaron Young Scholars Program in Duke Today

Duke Today has spotlighted the Hank & Billye Suber Aaron Young Scholars program, recognizing it as “one of the few opportunities in the state for young people to get experience in conducting interdisciplinary social sciences research.”

“This program underscores the importance of conducting credible research and examines how research can shape different aspects of society. I am pleased that Duke Today has recognized and highlighted the significance of this program, the important research our students are conducting, and its impact on preparing the next generation of scholars” says Kennedy Ruff, Program Coordinator for the Aaron Young Scholars Summer Research Institute, and a former participant in the first cohort of the Institute.

The Aaron Young Scholars Summer Research Institute is a three-week program that provides high school students enrolled in Durham Public Schools (DPS) with training to enhance their writing, research, and presentation skills. The program is sponsored by the Samuel DuBois Cook Center on Social Equity at Duke University in partnership with Durham Public Schools (DPS).
