Founding Director William A. Darity awarded the Inaugural William Spriggs Memorial Award by the Association for Public Policy Analysis & Management

The Cook Center is pleased to announce that Founding Director, Dr. William A. Darity  Jr. has been awarded the William Spriggs Memorial Award from the Association for Public Policy Analysis & Management! This award honors the life of  a trailblazer in economics and labor policy, William Spriggs. Spriggs served as a chief economist of the AFL-CIO and a professor at Howard University before passing away in June 2023 at the age of 68.

The William Spriggs Award was created to recognize other trailblazing academics and practitioners who have helped develop our understanding of racial discrimination in public policy, education, labor markets, academic disciplines, or society at-large.
