Dr. Mackenzie Alston joined the Department of Finance at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) as an assistant professor in Fall 2022 after previously working in the Department of Economics at Florida State University (FSU). She was awarded the inaugural Post-Doctoral Fellowship to Promote Diversity in the Economics Profession by the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) in 2021. She uses experiments and surveys to understand the role of race- and gender-based discrimination and disparities in settings like the labor market and the education system.
