Duke University’s Cook Center Holds 2022 Young Scholars’ Digital Capstone Conference

On July 25, 2022 the Duke University Samuel DuBois Cook Center on Social Equity hosted its Capstone Conference for the eighth annual Hank and Billye Suber Aaron Young Scholars Research Institute. Nearly 25 middle and high school students from Durham Public Schools—some even participants in the program for multiple summers—convened to present the research they had conducted over the prior three weeks.

Keynote speaker Dr. Fenaba Addo, Ph.D, a Cook Center affiliate, and Duke University alum, spoke about her career pathway into and through graduate school, and her research on student debt. Dr. Addo also introduced her upcoming book, A Dream Defaulted: the Student Loan Crisis Among Black Borrowers which is available for preorder.
