Elijah King named Durham Public Schools Student of the month

We are proud to celebrate Hank & Billye Suber Aaron Young Scholar Elijah King in his recognition by Durham Public Schools as Student of the Month for October. In the feature written by  Durham Public Schools (DPS), we learn more about his impact in Durham as a senior at Riverside High School.

According to Principal Tonya Williams, King “shows the best of Riverside High School. He is an empathetic leader who has a broad impact on both the school community and the Durham community. He embraces the diverse community of Durham and desires to make it a better place. He is a true Pirate.”

King was a part of the Inaugural Cohort of Aaron Young Scholars and continues to intern with the Cook Center. In his last year of the program, he completed a research paper, “A Two-Faced System: How Title I Has Cut American Children Short”.
