The Samuel DuBois Cook Center on Social Equity and Director William “Sandy” Darity Jr. were recently featured in an Inside Philanthropy article discussing the potential impacts of anti-DEI executive orders on funding for reparations research and advocacy.

The article highlights the William T. Grant Foundation’s $300,000 grant to the Cook Center in 2021, which supported research on the feasibility of paying reparations to Black descendants of enslaved people. This funding contributed to the publication of The Black Reparations Project: A Handbook for Racial Justice and a research paper examining societal benefits of a child centric reparations policy.

Dr. Adam Gamoran, William T. Grant Foundation, emphasized the significance of Dr. Darity’s work in addressing the racial wealth gap. The article also notes support from The Russell-Sage Foundation, which has awarded over $45,000 to reparations related research since 2020.
