Businesswomen in Manhattan learned why negotiating is crucial for women
Businesswomen in Manhattan learned why negotiating is crucial for women in the workforce at the Women in Business luncheon on Friday.
The Manhattan Area Chamber of Commerce hosted the program about learning negotiation strategies based on the video series by Duke University professor, Ashleigh Shelby Rosette.
The video series addressed why negotiating is crucial for women, why women shouldn’t be afraid to make the first offer, using positive emotions, and working together to successfully negotiate.
The strategies can be used for negotiating a wide range of topics, from a raise, promotion, a better schedule or more vacation days.
The goal of the Women in Business group is to support and empower all businesswomen, regardless of their industry.
“We’ve had such an amazing series of speakers and different types of events, it’s always fascinating what you learn from the different ones.” Intrust Bank, Commercial Business Developer, Nicole Springer says.
“It’s just a great organization for the women in the town to get together, support each other, learn from each other, and just be there.” Alan Clark Body Shop, owner, Tammi Baird says.
The Women in Business group hosts events each month, and the August luncheon is in partnership with the Women of K-State.
