A Lawsuit, Unmet Demands, and Coloring Books: Inside Duke’s Sit-In

On Wednesday, April 6, Robert Korstad, professor of public policy and history and associate director of the Cook Center, visited the students’ compound outside Allen. He was impressed by their strength in numbers. He commended the students for tackling the larger issue of the needs of campus workers, who he said have been largely ignored by university leaders.

"I don’t know what they’re thinking," Mr. Korstad said of the administration. "I don’t think they have a long-term understanding of the real needs of workers and real concerns here. Their attention to things like this is very episodic and not a real concern. They have to negotiate and figure out what they agree on."
